Look! Over there! Quick, it’ll only last a minute or two. Did you see it? That little ray of sunshine? A little sunbeam has found it’s way into my wintery home. A reminder, a sign, a harbinger of sunny days to come.
It starts with an early morning beam reflected from the windows of the north east facing home across the road. Even second hand it brings joy to my south facing home. Then an early morning sneaky beam peaks around the corner of my north facing neighbour’s backyard and into my room landing on my favourite Art Deco vase with a bunch of daphne (ah, the smell is so heavenly). It moves quickly, almost too quick to capture with my camera. As soon as I take these shots it’s gone.
Soon it will shine through all my windows for half the day, forcing me to squint in its glare and lurk in the shadows. I’ll hunker down with the blinds drawn tight to keep the heat out.
