Homecoming

Crochet Ball Necklace by Crayon Chick

I’m home. Nearly 2,000kms under my belt, numerous bakeries evaluated and a fabulous market to boot. What a weekend! The Bowerbird Bazaar was a wonderful event and it was too lovely to meet so many new people. I’ve heard from some since I’ve been back and it’s been really great to hear from you.

A new purchase, an original watercolour by Sue Ninham called Pet Rock II. I love it!
I had selected Horsham on the Western Highway as the perfectly timed mid afternoon break to sample some local baked goods and I wasn’t disappointed. In one block alone on the main street I found 3 bakeries but it wasn’t until I was navigating my way back to the highway that I saw a sign on one of the bakeries declaring their vanilla slices to be The Best In The Country. How could a girl leave such a declaration alone without sussing it out for herself? On my return trip I bee-lined to the bakery, and guess what? They had a vanilla slice that would definitely feature in my top 5! I do love a trip through the countryside.

Lark - There is a bakery in Woodend that also says it has Australia’s Best Vanilla Slice – might I suggest you travel to Daylesford on the Calder Freeway via Woodend, as you might need a bakery break! It’s also a prettier drive.

Can’t wait to hear more about the Bowerbird Market!
