I put the hook down for a minute and suddenly it’s Christmas!
I’ve been longing to play in my garden for weeks now. My poor little kitchen garden exploded into life and desperately needed staking. We have 18 people coming over for Christmas lunch and I haven’t done a thing! Naturally in yesterday’s almost 40C day I decided that was the day to play in the garden.
That little kitchen garden has been tarted up like a Christmas pudding! I had so much fun, despite the heat. We swabbed the deck, cleaned the outdoor furniture, positioned the umbrella and admired our handiwork.
Today I have a ham in the oven for my first ever attempt at glazing a Christmas ham. I’m tres excited! I’ve got Tony Bennet’s Christmas Album playing in the background and I’m fossicking in the cupboards or all the nice and proper platters and serving bowls. I’m old enough to have been in the time of getting lovely crockery and china for my 21st – I wonder what 21 year olds get now?
I’m now inspired to pom pom attack the house. Just another thing to add to the list!
However you celebrate your Christmas I hope you have a lovely time. Don’t forget to notice the small things along the way because I secretly believe that’s where the true Christmas spirit is found!
