To Brisbane and back

Crayon Chick on Instagram at Finders Keepers in Brisbane
From where I stood.  The heavenly tropical Queensland sunshine did it’s magic in Studio 3!
My weekend in beautiful Brisbane for Finders Keepers was fabulous, but didn’t go without a hitch.  It was one of those scenes from a movie where our fearless heroine is having ‘one of those days’ and it seems everything starts to unravel.
Picture this, your average market girlie, arriving at her destination.  There was relief that she got everything done on her list even though it meant staying up past 3.30am for a few nights.  Miraculously everything fit into her 2 pieces of luggage.  Her luggage weighs in with nano-grams to spare, her carry on is creating tension – what if the fragile items inside get squashed on the overhead storage, why is it so heavy, how come her departure gate is always the furtherest away?
Did she forgotten anything?  Did she pack enough?  Too much of some?  Not enough of others?
So there she is, your average market girlie, standing at the carousel waiting for her incredibly heavy and  awkward luggage to roll by.  One does.  A big heave-ho and it’s by her side.  Now for the second one.
The second one.
The second one doesn’t roll by.  The second one is MIA.  The second one seems to be – gasp – lost.  LOST!!!!!  IT’S GOT HALF HER MARKET STOCK IN IT!
Don’t panic, she says, she takes it in her stride.  Our girlie recalls other market girls that have had the same thing happen to them and they stayed pretty cool about it.  It all ended well.  Besides, your average market girlie is pretty resourceful, she’s a clever creative type after all, she knows she’ll be ok, she’ll make do.
So she leaves the airport and goes to the venue.  So much time was lost and the venue is about to close.  Alarm starts to take hold when the set up can’t start without some basics which are in the other case.  That’s alright, the venue is shutting for the night anyway and there’s nothing she can do.  Apart from gather all the broken bits from her luggage that didn’t survive the journey and dump them in the bin.
Our average market girlie sighs and heads to her room to wait for her luggage.
She waits.
She waits.
She gets a call saying the flight is delayed.  The case could arrive as late as midnight.
She waits.  She gets bored.  She plays Patience.
She gets the call!  The flight with the second case has arrived!  Ninety minutes later and our average market girlie is reunuited with her luggage.
It tinkles.  It’s not a good sign.  She opens the case to find some pretty serious breakage.  She wonders what on earth do airlines do to their luggage for the items to be so squashed.
She doesn’t care, there’s nothing she can do.  She’s on track once more and the show must go on!
PS, I get to do it all again this weekend in Adelaide!
